I've been a journalist since 1986, working variously as a staff writer, editor, production editor and section editor across a range of business-to-business titles in subjects including food, drink, health and beauty and the rag trade.
Over time, my specialism became the alcohol market, including spells as editor of Off Licence News (now Drinks Retailing News), Club Secretary and Freehouse, though I continue to work in other areas including music and sport as part of being a genuine all-rounder.
Since 2002, I've been a successful freelance writer, editor and consultant.
I'm a member of the British Guild of Beer Writers and have three times been shortlisted for its annual award for Best Writing in Trade Media, winning in 2014. I was shortlisted for Best Writing in National Media in 2018 for pub reviews in The Sunday Telegraph.
I blog on music under the name Getting Rid of the Albatross and historically with my own personal take on the drinks world at The Drinks Remix.
I'm pretty versatile, having turned my hand to a range of tasks for dozens of clients over the years including:
I'm available for all of the above plus:
Most of the work I do is my own office-based but I do travel to work on-site for clients in their offices or at events when needed. Drop me an email here to discuss your requirements.
Cheers
